Sutro Through the Fog

This simple black and white photo was taken while on an early morning bike ride on Mount Tam and captures a moody, foggy scene in San Francisco. The well-known Sutro Tower broadcasting antenna pokes up out of a thick blanket of fog that has rolled in over the city. All you can really make out is the iconic tower's tall, skinny frame in the far distance rising up from the flat grayish-white haze.

In the foreground, tree branches reach out through the dense fog, adding a little texture and depth to the image. It has a somewhat eerie, isolated vibe with just the lone tower visible amidst the heavy mist that has swallowed up the rest of the cityscape. The stripped-down scene gives you a sense of San Francisco's famous foggy weather in a stark, minimalist way. Could make for an interesting contemporary print for home or office highlighting one of the city's most unique qualities.
